De Saisset Museum
Tucked away in the heart of Santa Clara University is a hidden gem – the De Saisset Museum. This museum is small but mighty, with a collection that includes everything from ancient Egyptian artifacts to contemporary art. And best of all, admission is free!
One of the highlights of the De Saisset Museum’s collection is its African art. The collection includes wood carvings, masks, and textiles from various African cultures. These objects are not only beautiful but also provide insights into the cultures that produced them.
Another highlight of the De Saisset Museum’s collection is its Asian art. The museum has an extensive collection of Japanese woodblock prints, as well as ceramics, textiles, and sculptures from China and Korea. The Asian art gallery is a great place to learn about the artistic traditions of different cultures.
The De Saisset Museum also has a noteworthy collection of European art. The collection includes paintings by masters such as Rembrandt and Rubens, as well as works by lesser-known artists. In addition to paintings, the European art gallery also features sculptures, furniture, and porcelain.
